We finally saw some sunshine this weekend and got outside a bit. We headed to Charlotte and met up with our daughter for lunch at a place called Tupelo Honey Cafe. It was a nice little place in the South End of Charlotte.
They started us off with a plate of warm biscuts and jelly. Then I started off with my first ever Mimosa.
I’m not real sure what all is in a Mimosa except champagne and orange juice, but I have always wanted to try one.
For the meal, I ordered one of my Southern favorites. Fried Green Tomatoes with basil, goat cheese grits, and roasted red pepper coulis.
Our daughter had the Slow-Roasted Pork Grilled Cheese white cheddar, smoked jalapeno bbq sauce, on pumpernickel bread (not pictured). And Nick chose the veggie burger with a side of Beer City Chicken Chili.
I loved the rustic atmomphere that gives you a warm cozy feel. They also have a large outdoor sitting area to enjoy on a warm day under a covered porch. The food was delicious and the staff worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed.
Afterwards we took a walk around the area. The temperature was in the 60’s and the streets were packed with people wanting to get out and enjoy the pretty day.
What is the weather like in your area? Is it unseasonably warm like it is here in the Carolinas?
But hey, I’m not complaining. I could live where it stays warm year-round. I love it.
That's amazing menu, yummy foodies. I'm sure you had a good time.
ReplyDeletesounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteYum, yum!!
ReplyDeleteThose fried green tomatoes sound really good! Snow and cold here. Pretty much what's expected this time of year :)
ReplyDeleteFood looks and sounds good. However, I have never had the nerve to try goat cheese. (smile). Probably did in Italy and Greece but didn't know it. Our weather. Miserable 69-75 bright sunshine, light wind. I thought miserable would be a good word since it is Florida and we are just outside Disney for another week.. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely luncheon and the food looks amazing! We are having a mild winter for us as well, not in the 60's like you but when we get into the 40's in January it's uncommon. Luckily the snow is happening in the mountains which is good. We need the snowpack to get us through summer.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!!
And now I'm hungry.
ReplyDeleteOn the warm side for here, high 30's.
First I've heard of it, but you're right, it's apparently just champagne and citrus juice.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the Tupelo Honey Café?! Mind you, I've only visited the Asheville location but it never disappoints. Nice post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice place to meet up with your daughter and enjoy lunch. The food looked yummy.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and hope you have a nice week.
How nice that you met your daughter for the day. The food looks scrumptious on here. The roasted pork grilled cheese looks amazing, and chili is one of my favorites. This sounds like a charming place to visit. I hope the new year is being good to you.

That's nice Lisa that you met up with your daughter. We like the South End. I have been in Tupelo Honey, twice, they are very good. Love those biscuits!
